BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate in Business
The National Extended Certificate in Business is taught over two years and is the equivalent of one A level. There are four units in the qualification, three of these are compulsory units whilst one is an option that will be selected by the department to reflect resources, student interest and staff expertise.
As this is a new qualification, the units will be reviewed and selected as more information becomes available.
Unit 1 is an introductory unit which is internally assessed by the centre. Students will look at the purposes of different businesses, their structure and how they need to be dynamic and innovative to survive. Your work will be assessed using a variety of reports and assignments on this topic.
Unit 2 is an externally assessed unit and looks at developing a marketing campaign, looking at the different stages of development and creating your own marketing campaign. Although the work is assessed externally, you will complete the task under controlled conditions in school using material that is released by the exam board.
In unit 3 you will study the purpose and importance of personal and business finance and develop the skills and knowledge needed to understand, analyse and prepare financial information. This unit is assessed by a 2 hour exam. The final optional unit will be selected from Recruitment and Selection Process, Investigating Customer Service, Market Research, The English Legal System, Work Experience in Business. As this is a new course, we may review this offer as further details about this and other courses become available to ensure that the course we offer suits our students.
